Appointments

Peartree Group Practice operates a telephone-based triage system and doctor telephone call back system for all doctor appointments. View a diagram explaining our appointment system.

You will discuss your problem over the telephone with the Doctor and agree a shared management plan; you may be satisfied with telephone advice or your doctor may require a face-to-face appointment for examination, which can be arranged at an appropriate time.

Please telephone the practice on 01707 329292 or 01707 335511 to begin the process. Telephone lines open at 8:30am until 6:30pm. The administrator will take your details and ask whether you require same day advice for a new problem or ongoing problem.  You may specify a preference regarding what time(s) you are available to talk, which we will try our best to accommodate.

New Concern

New Concerns will be added to our telephone triage list for a same day call back from the duty doctor. You will discuss your problem over the telephone with the Doctor and agree a shared management plan; you may be satisfied with telephone advice or your doctor may require a face-to-face appointment for examination, which can be arranged at an appropriate time.

In the event our triage list has reached maximum capacity for the day and your case is not urgent, we will advise you to call back the following day to be added to the next day’s call back list. Patients are welcome to call 111 or visit the local urgent care centre if it is their preference not to wait until the following day.

If your problem is an emergency or you are listed on our priority patient list (end of life care patients, babies, vulnerable patients or patients with multiple chronic diseases etc.) we will still accept calls for triage after the list has reached maximum capacity for the day.

Ongoing Concern

If your problem is ongoing, the administration team will inform when the healthcare professional (Doctor or Pharmacist) who is dealing with it, is next available to call you. If you need to speak to a Doctor sooner (e.g. due to leave, working pattern of GP) you will be offered a same-day call from the duty doctor to discuss your problem and advise accordingly. You may specify a preference regarding what time(s) you are available to talk, which we will try our best to accommodate.

Surgery Appointments

Surgery appointments are all booked, in the first instance, via a telephone consultation with a GP. We have found that patients not attending pre booked appointments or booking an appointment when telephone advice would suffice is affecting availability for patients who need to be seen. This system guarantees appointments for patients who need to be seen, and those who require advice can be conveniently supported over the telephone.

Pharmacist

If your query is regarding medication, and it is appropriate to do so, our Pharmacist Mr Dharmesh Shah will telephone you to engage in a medication review and/or resolve your medication query. Dharmesh works closely with the duty doctor team to deliver medication reviews for all medication including HRT and contraception.

All repeat prescription requests should be ordered via your pharmacist or by either submitting your request online via this website or by dropping in your repeat request to reception. We do not take requests over the telephone due to the volume of requests and the potential for error.

Nurse Appointments

Appointments for our nurses and healthcare assistants can still be made over the telephone or at the desk.  We will enquire what the appointment is for so we can allocate the appropriate nurse and amount of time for your appointment.

Our practice nurses are highly trained and offer the following services:

  • Review clinics for asthma, diabetes and COPD. We recommend an annual review of the above conditions.
  • Cervical smear tests. We advise all women between the ages of 25 and 65 years to have a smear test every 3 years.
  • Contraception advice. Confidential advice is available from our Pharmacist including, routine pill checks and the administration of contraception injections.
  • Vaginal swabs. If you are worried about vaginal discharge or soreness, our nurses will take routine swabs for examination.
  • Dressings
  • Child Health Immunisations
  • Travel advice and Immunisations with Nurse Carol Summers – we hold a clinic each week.
