An Urgent Care Centre is now located in the new QEII Hospital. The urgent care centre is open 24 hours a day and treats adults and children of all ages with minor injuries or minor illnesses. No appointment is necessary.

Childhood Development Clinics

These are undertaken at both Peartree Lane and Moorswalk surgeries in conjunction with the health visitors on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Six week checks for babies prior to vaccination should be booked through reception.

Childhood Immunisation Clinics

We run Childhood Immunisation clinics at both Peartree Lane and Moorswalk surgeries. These will be discussed with parents of newborn babies by either the health visitor or doctor.  Appointments are usually sent out by the health authority but more information may be obtained from the surgery.

Hertfordshire Community Baby Clinics

We support families during pregnancy and with a new baby or a child aged under five-years-old. We help you and your family to be healthy; both emotionally and physically. Working together with you, we can provide advice, support and confidential health advice.

Family Planning
Family Planning/Cervical Smear Tests

The practice offers a full range of family planning services including prescriptions for oral contraceptives, morning after pill and fitting caps and coils.

Smear tests involve an examination of the cervix (the neck of the womb) to check for warning signs which may occur before cancer develops. We recommend that all women between the ages of 25 and 65 should have regular smear tests.

Flu Vaccine
Flu Clinics

This is offered each winter from early October. Vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with asthma, heart disease, diabetes or suffer with recurrent bronchitis, or those patient who are over 65 years of age. Flu vaccination clinic details may be obtained from reception.

Hay fever
Hay fever

Hay fever is caused by an allergy to pollen. The symptoms of hay fever are caused when a person has an allergic reaction to pollen. Common hay fever symptoms are:

  • – a runny, itchy and/or blocked nose
  • – sneezing
  • – itchy eyes
Treatment - Steroid nasal sprays

Steroid nasal sprays help to prevent or reduce inflammation in the lining of the nose and some can help to relieve watery eyes.

Treatment - Decongestants

Decongestant nasal sprays and tablets are used to unblock the nose.

Treatment - Eye drops

Eye drops can be used to treat itchy or watery eyes.

Antihistamines help to relieve a runny nose, sneezing, itching and watery eyes.
